Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Arch | Hartford, CT
This brownstone landmark, designed by Architect
George Keller and erected in 1886, is the first
permanent tumphal arch in America. The structure
had been subjected to water penetration and the
resultant deterioration of the stone. Restoration
work involved cleaning, repointing and caulking the
existing structure as well as reshaping damaged features
with cementitious mineral based mortar.
